    The Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) is seeking a pediatrician, board certified in general pediatrics, to join the Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine. The faculty will have a full time academic appointment in the department, which has over 90 community faculty and full time faculty. The faculty should meet the medical school requirements for academic appointment at assistant professor level rank or higher.

    Responsibilities

    This faculty will join a diverse team of eight general pediatricians and will have clinical, teaching, and academic responsibilities. In addition to general pediatrics clinical practice experience, the ideal candidate will have experience in teaching, research and scholarly activities. Opportunities for clinical research in collaboration with the Center for Clinical Research at WMed are available. In addition to providing general pediatric direct patient care, faculty will fully participate in the education of our medical students, pediatric, medicine-pediatric, and family medicine residents. The pediatric residency program is a fully accredited program with all subspecialty care and tertiary care capabilities. We currently have 24 categorical pediatrics residents and 16 medicine-pediatrics residents. Our medical school class size is 84 students per year.

     

    Participation in ongoing faculty development, community outreach and advocacy, and administrative responsibilities within the medical school and residency program is an expectation of faculty and involvement may be tailored to individual faculty interest and expertise. Candidates with additional fellowship training such as, academic general pediatrics, advanced training in medical education, or public health preferred, but not required.

     

    WMed Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine has two practice locations – Oakland Drive, Kalamazoo and Mall Drive, Portage, Michigan. Additional key services provided on-site at our Oakland Drive location include integrated behavioral health services, respiratory therapy, nutrition, social work support, ambulatory pharmacy, radiology, and laboratory services, OB/GYN, adolescent medicine, developmental behavioral pediatrics, and other pediatric subspecialty care.

     

    Western Michigan University School of Medicine offers competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits.  This faculty position will have a full time academic appointment in the Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine of Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine.  Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience.  The candidate must be eligible for full licensure to practice in Michigan.

Upjohn M.D. Campus located in downtown Kalamazoo underwent a $78 million renovation and expansion project including two laboratory research floors and a state-of-the-art Simulation Center that is accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. The Innovation Center on the Parkview Campus is a life science, technology, and engineering incubator serving the earliest startups to maturing companies with laboratory, office and conference space, access to core scientific equipment and expertise, and a wide range of support services.
