Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine is searching for a Web Developer who is passionate about web development. You will focus on mid-level development, testing, implementation and maintenance of all facets of web-based application systems.  This role will provide you with exposure to new and emerging technologies, a friendly working environment and the flexiablity of remote working solutions located within the state of Michigan.


  • Work within larger consortium and internal team to develop and maintain the School of Medicine learning management system.
  • Design, develop and maintain the public and internal web presence for the School of Medicine using the organization’s chosen content management system.
  • Conduct web based applications development and implementation consistent with the School of Medicine needs.
  • Design, develop, maintain and interface web applications using PHP, SQL, (X)HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
  • Responsible for maintenance, security, technical support for users and documentation of all programming/scripting code written.
  • Interface with a variety of database systems and data structures in order to leverage access to information.
  • Availability to work on weekends or evenings to complete time sensitive projects.
  • Acquires knowledge for new technology and policy/procedure revisions.
  • All other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and/or related experience.
  • Must demonstrate a functional knowledge of the LAMP Stack, PHP, (X)HTML, CSS and Javascript (jQuery).
  • Minimum of two years’ experience using the Drupal CMS and/or other CMS, including module development.
  • Requires knowledge and skills in configuration and deployment of web applications including database design, web-based scripting languages and web standards.


  • Certification in web-related technologies is a plus.
