Overview

This is a temporary position that is responsible for providing a full range of clerical supprt for the orthopedic department. 

 

Position available immediately. 

Responsibilities

  • Provides clerical support to the nursing and physician team.
  • Prepare and send and/or fax information, material or documentation as requested from providers or clinical staff.
  • Compile data or documentation for MCIR for all primary care clinics including Pediatrics.
  • Recording and documenting all returned mail for primary care clinics.
  • Search files, databases or reference materials to obtain needed information.
  • Assist Providers with patient requests from email or in-basket messages.
  • Relays messages to staff & physicians and communicates with other departments as necessary.
  • Organize workload to comply with deadlines and establish priorities.
  • Accepting and delivering interdepartmental correspondence.
  • Runs the No-Show report daily for all primary care clinics and documents as needed.
  • Works on Patient Panel Provider list monthly.
  • Keeps VIS forms stocked daily for clinical staff.
  • Assist with reconciling immunizations between MCIR and Epic.
  • Answers and directs incoming calls.
  • Back up for registration and scheduling.
  • Tracks and ensures patient forms are completed in a timely manner.
  • Schedules follow-up appointments and reschedules appointments.
  • Reads & documents daily medication refrigerator temperatures.
  • Calls patients who canceled or did not show for their referral appointment; follows-up with referring physician/office.
  • Receives faxed documents and distributes to appropriate clinic/person.
  • Monitors supplies (office and medical); reorders and stocks items as needed.
  • Availability to work occasional overtime on weekends or evenings to complete time sensitive projects.
  • Acquires knowledge for new technology and policy/procedure revisions.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalency plus minimum one-year experience in data entry, clerical, and receptionist experience in a medical office environment preferred.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in word processing and file management using Microsoft Office and other software as required by the department.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with grammar and spelling skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and proficiency in an EMR system as applicable to position duties and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Ability to operate automated standard office equipment such as multi-line phone system, copier, fax machine, shredder, etc.
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret, comprehend, and transmit complicated and detailed instructions accurately.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize priorities in organization of work flow.
  • Able to perform duties independently, with a minimal need for direct supervision.
  • Work in a fast pace environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to maintain a high standard of customer service and observation of organization protocol.
