Overview

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) seeks a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist to join its growing academic department as the Director of its Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Training Program. The OB/GYN residency program is a fully accredited program with 16 residents (4 per year). This is a new residency program that is graduating its first class of residents in June of 2022. We are looking to expand its clinical services, research, and both medical student and resident training.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist who is interested and passionate about teaching. This is a 50% administrative/40% clinical/10% teaching/scholarly position.  All academic ranks will be considered.

  1. With authority and accountability for the operation of the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program, administrative responsibilities will include residency program development and evaluation; resident recruitment and selection; resident evaluation and supervision; course/rotation scheduling, monitoring and evaluation; and representation of the Department at accrediting entities and professional organizations.
  2. This position includes clinical duties appropriate to the training and experience of the candidate.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Valid M.D. or D.O degree.
  • Licensure to practice medicine in Michigan or Eligibility for such Licensure.
  • Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • 3+ years of teaching experience.
  • Based on training and career interests, specific clinical and other academic responsibilities will be negotiated.

Faculty in the Department of Pathology serve as the Office of the Medical Examiner for counties throughout Michigan and northern Indiana.
