Overview

WMU Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine is seeking a dynamic team player to join the IT team. This position is responsible for supporting low complexity application tasks and activities related to computer systems, hardware, or software. Assists team members in various tasks as assigned by them.

Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with requests for technical assistance in person, via phone, and electronically.
  • Act as Audiovisual (AV) technician, set up and run the sound and video equipment used to conduct live events/meetings.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues.
  • Provide on-site IT support with the setup and break down of equipment and supplies.
  • Assist in creating,disabling and expiring user accounts.
  • Track and route requests and document the resolutions.
  • Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention.
  • Flexibility to perform various tasks including labor, tech support, inventory sorting/counting, office tasks, etc.
  • Ability to communicate well and train users on proper use of products.
  • Stay current with system information, changes and updates.
  • Assist in other administrative areas, as assigned by supervisor.
  • Availability to work occasional overtime on weekends or evenings to complete time sensitive projects.
  • Acquires knowledge for new technology and policy/procedure revisions.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate’s degree preferred and/or minimum two years’ experience in a computer environment.
  • Experience and knowledge in fundamental operations of relevant software, hardware and other equipment.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail, be adaptable and handle stress in a fast paced environment.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in grammar and spelling skills.Ability to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret, comprehend, and transmit complicated and detailed instructions accurately.
  • Ability to accept and apply feedback.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is expected.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize priorities in organization of workflow.
  • Able to perform duties independently, with a minimal need for direct supervision.
