Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine is searching for a Laboratory Animal Technician within our Vivarium Program.  Responsible for working with other animal care staff to provide husbandry for research animals housed in the WMed Vivarium.  May need to conduct technical procedures (blood collection, etc.) needed to meet research goals and/or to maintain optimal health of the animals.  Assists the Animal Resources Manager and Assistant Dean for Laboratory Animal Resources as requested to ensure the facility and animal care program continue to meet all standards required to remain in compliance with regulatory agencies, and needed to maintain AAALAC accreditation.  Training will be provided as needed.

The Department of Pathology at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine is seeking a full time Forensic Pathologist at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level to join six (6) board certified forensic pathologists (one who is also a neuropathologist), two forensic anthropologists, and a forensic toxicologist in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The ideal candidate will perform medicolegal and hospital autopsies, supervise death investigations completed by Medical Examiner Investigators, teach medical students and the forensic pathology fellow, and develop a program of scholarly inquiry.  Additional expertise in neuropathology, pediatric pathology, or cardiovascular pathology is highly desirable, but not required. In 2020, our office investigated over 4,000 deaths and we performed over 1,000 postmortem examinations. The office is on the top floor of the medical school in a modern and recently renovated space equipped with a Lodox and with plans to obtain a CT scan in the near future. Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine is recruiting a Research Sub-Investigator within the Center for Clinical Research. Oversees and coordinates care of research patients in the clinic setting as delegated by the Principal Investigator (PI) in accordance with each protocol.  Sub-Investigator will assess patient medical history, current health, and evaluate patients for inclusion/exclusion criteria for study enrollment. The NP/PA will perform protocol-specific evaluations, administer/dispense study drugs, order and review laboratory and radiographic studies, and coordinate adverse event assessment and follow-up with PI and PCP as appropriate. The Sub-Investigator will collaborate in other research activities as appropriate with members of the research team.  The Sub-Investigator will also assume a Clinical Research Coordinator role on select studies, as needed.

The Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) seeks a board certified or board eligible general pediatrician to join its growing general pediatric academic department. The department has approximately 100 faculty, including 70 community and 30 full-time academic employed faculty in general pediatrics, as well as pediatric subspecialties. Our categorical pediatric residency program has 30 residents, with an additional 16 medicine-pediatrics residents. The candidate will be joining an established and growing ambulatory general pediatric practice and the Division of General Pediatrics with 11 pediatricians. The practice serves as a learning site for medical students and residents, as well as faculty practices in two locations. Duties include establishing event plans and themes, budgets, contacting and assist with the selection of speakers, facility room scheduling, lodging, catering, security, publicity, materials, and equipment; negotiating with vendors; preparing and changing contracts; and processing billing. The Simulation Center provides simulation-based education and training services to all programs within WMed, as well as to community physicians, nurses, pre-hospital providers, allied health and other healthcare providers in southwest Michigan.    The Simulation Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day routine and implementation of simulation activities, including: - Managing day-to-day activities of simulation lab assistants and full-time technical staff. - Creating daily, weekly and monthly task/work schedules for the simulation technicians and assuring assignments are carried out in a timely fashion. - Training of new full and part-time simulation technicians. - Training simulation technicians on new task trainers, simulators, classroom audio-visual equipment, and room video-recording systems. - Programming, troubleshooting, and operating task trainers, high fidelity mannequins, classroom audio-visual equipment, and room video-recording systems during simulation events. - Upon completion of manufacturer’s preventive maintenance class, performs preventative maintenance on human patient simulators. - Monitoring inventory and allocating specific equipment and supplies used in simulation events. - Monitoring and controlling routine daily operations through timely communication with educators, learners, and Simulation Center staff before, during, and after events. - Training of faculty, residents, and medical students on the technical use of simulation equipment and principles of simulation learning. - Assists faculty and residents with simulation design and programming. - Working with vendors to resolve issues in supply, equipment, and mannequin acquisition and operation.
