The Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine of Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) seeks a faculty who is board certified or board eligible in adolescent medicine and eligible to practice in Michigan, to join its growing academic department. This faculty position includes full-time academic appointment as a core faculty member in the Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience.
The department has 120 faculty members with clinical and full-time academic appointments in general pediatrics as well as pediatric subspecialties. This position is a good opportunity for a junior or a senior postdoc fellow who wishes to be successful in their academic career. They will receive training in various aspects (e.g. project and proposal writing, article writing, new technology training, and others), as well as the opportunity to collaborate with our clinical faculty, institute researchers, and our laboratory students. The lab is led by Dr. Yong Li, who is a well-known professor in stem cell regulations and applications, fibrosis prevention, genetic and epigenetic modifications in the field of musculoskeletal regenerative medicine. Dr. Li is a recognized expert in the field of tissue injury and repair with his use of stem cells to improve musculoskeletal tissue repair and clinical translational studies. He spearheaded an exciting project that aims to research limb muscle atrophy after neuronal or musculoskeletal injuries, as well as research limb regrowth/regeneration after amputation. His research also extends to other groundbreaking areas, such as use of autologous blood clots combined with stem cells and other drugs (e.g. antibiotics to improve skin wound healing and prevent infections).
The Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) is leading change with our patient-centered medical home model, performance improvement initiatives, and focus on improving operating efficiency. The Department of Psychiatry, Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) seeks a faculty-level doctoral Psychiatrist to join its growing academic department. The Department of Pathology at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine is seeking a full time Forensic Pathologist at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level to join six (6) board certified forensic pathologists (one who is also a neuropathologist), two forensic anthropologists, and a forensic toxicologist in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The ideal candidate will perform medicolegal and hospital autopsies, supervise death investigations completed by Medical Examiner Investigators, teach medical students and the forensic pathology fellow, and develop a program of scholarly inquiry. Research Lab Technician work involves basic and translational research in immunology to address key questions relating to B cell development and function in studies carried out in animal models and/or with patient samples. The Department of Investigative Medicine at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Fellow research position in the laboratory of Thomas L. Rothstein MD, PhD, Chair of the Department of Investigative Medicine and Director of the Center for Immunobiology. Two kinds of projects are available. 1) Molecular Immunology—encompasses study of B1 cell development and function, including the role of human B1 cells and natural antibody in health and disease; BCR signaling pathways including receptor crosstalk and the IL-4-induced alternate pathway; B cell pathogenesis in lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and other autoimmune dyscrasias; B cells and aging, including atherosclerosis and infectious diseases. 2) Cellular Proteostasis—encompasses study of stress- and mutation-related protein aggregation including novel assays for protein oligomers; mouse models of neurodegenerative diseases associated with dysfunctional protein aggregation; mechanism of aggregation prevention and aggregation resolution by the unique protein, FAIM.
Postdoctoral fellows will lead research projects and have the opportunity to closely collaborate with experts in molecular biology, bioinformatics, genetics and biochemistry.
