The Simulation Technician is responsible for the daily technical operations of the WMED Simulation Center. This educational facility provides simulation-based education and training services to all programs within WMED, as well as to community physicians, nurses, pre-hospital providers, allied health and other healthcare providers in southwest Michigan. Although undergraduate and graduate medical education is emphasized, the Simulation Center incorporates and encourages multi-specialty, interdisciplinary, and inter-professional educational activities. Medical education programs in the Simulation Center assists learners in their development of cognitive, procedural, communication, and teamwork skills, skill maintenance, clinical decision-making, professionalism, and effective, efficient, safe, and collaborative medical care in a state-of-the-art learning environment. The Simulation Center also promotes research in medical education and human performance.

Responsible for managing the accounting and payroll functions under the general direction of the Senior Director, Accounting and Finance, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures. Provides oversight and coordination of operating reports and statutory filings. Establishes and maintains financial controls. Responsible for supervision of assigned support staff including payroll, grants and sponsored awards, monthly financial close process, and procurement.
Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) is recruiting an emergency medicine faculty member to serve in the newly developed role of Ultrasound Director. The Director will support the emergency medicine residency program and the expanding activities of the Department of Emergency Medicine. WMed is one of the newest medical schools in the U.S. and hosts a large, well-established emergency medicine residency program, as well as fellowship programs in EMS, medical simulation, sports medicine, and hospice and palliative medicine.
The Center for Immunobiology at the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine and its Director, Thomas L. The Department of Psychiatry, Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) seeks a board eligible or board-certified psychiatrist to join its growing academic department. The department currently has 16 full-time academic employed faculty members. The psychiatry residency program is a fully accredited program, currently with 24 residents (6 per year with accreditation up to 8 per year). This is a newer medical school that is looking to expand and enhance psychiatric clinical services, research, and both medical student and resident training. There are significant clinical and research collaborations with community mental health care (SWMBH and ICS), the VA system (BCVHA), Kalamazoo State Psychiatric Hospital and collaborative care psychiatry arrangements with a number of WMed Health, Bronson, and Ascension Borgess primary care, family medicine, and pediatric practice groups.
Led by Chairman Dr. Rajiv Tandon who joined in 2019, the Department of Psychiatry is experiencing tremendous growth within our clinical footprint and community collaborations, our scholarly work and research output, as well as our expanding education programs. We have imminent plans to increase our residency size and launch two new fellowship programs. The Department of Investigative Medicine at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Fellow research position in the laboratory of Thomas L. Rothstein MD, PhD, Chair of the Department of Investigative Medicine and Director of the Center for Immunobiology. Two kinds of projects are available. 1) Molecular Immunology—encompasses study of B1 cell development and function, including the role of human B1 cells and natural antibody in health and disease; BCR signaling pathways including receptor crosstalk and the IL-4-induced alternate pathway; B cell pathogenesis in lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and other autoimmune dyscrasias; B cells and aging, including atherosclerosis and infectious diseases. 2) Cellular Proteostasis—encompasses study of stress- and mutation-related protein aggregation including novel assays for protein oligomers; mouse models of neurodegenerative diseases associated with dysfunctional protein aggregation; mechanism of aggregation prevention and aggregation resolution by the unique protein, FAIM.
Postdoctoral fellows will lead research projects and have the opportunity to closely collaborate with experts in immunology, proteostasis, molecular biology and bioinformatics.
Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator within the Center for Clinical Research Program. The Clinical Research Coordinator, in collaboration with other members of the Center for Clinical Research, supports, facilitates and coordinates clinical research activities. The position will coordinate the conduct of the clinical research including the planning, implementation and follow through for industry-sponsored clinical trials, government-funded clinical research and investigator-initiated clinical research drug/device studies conducted by the Principal Investigator (PI).

The coordinator will work directly with the Assistant Dean of Diversity and Inclusiveness to advance the mission of WMed's Office of Diversity and Inclusiveness. This position is expected to assist in creating a campus environment that educates and affirms diversity and supports WMed's campus development to become a more inclusive campus. The coordinator will work with WMed's diverse faculty, staff, residents, and students. Experience working with culturally and ethnically diverse student communities is essential. This position is responsible for a portion of student activities programming as assigned by the Assistant Dean of Diversity and Inclusiveness. The coordinator will work closely with campus community constituents to provide programs and learning experiences that promote diversity and inclusiveness and build campus community. This position will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently and as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
The department of Family and Community Medicine at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) Is leading change in our Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), the Family Health Center of Kalamazoo (http://www.fhckzoo.com) with the patient centered medical home model, performace inprovement initiatives, and lean methodsfor improving efficiency. Our Oakland Drive Clinic and Family Health Center Clinic have recieved patient-centered medical home certification fromthe National Committee of Quality Assurance (NCQA). Our ACGME accredited 9-9-9 Kalamazoo based residency is one of two in the state of Michigan that is based completely in an FQHC. Our second family medicine residency accreditation is our new 6-6-6 residency in Battle Creek and is also based in an FQHC. Directs the planning, development, implementation, and administration of all human resources management functions including employment, compensation and benefits, employee relations, equal employment opportunity, the human resources information system, and training programs. Advises management on policy matters, making or recommending appropriate decisions. Serves as Title IX Coordinator.

Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine is seeking Part-Time Laboratory Animal Technicians within our Vivarium Program. Responsible for working with other animal care staff to provide husbandry for research animals housed in the WMed Vivarium. May need to conduct technical procedures (blood collection, etc.) needed to meet research goals and/or to maintain optimal health of the animals. Assists the Animal Resources Manager and Assistant Dean for Laboratory Animal Resources as requested to ensure the facility and animal care program continue to meet all standards required to remain in compliance with regulatory agencies, and needed to maintain AAALAC accreditation. Training will be provided as needed.
Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine has an exciting new position of Director of Major and Planned Gifts within the Office of Development. The Director of Major and Planned Gifts (The director) is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gift prospects with the ability to make gifts of $50,000 or more to the WMU Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine. The director will be responsible for managing a portfolio of 100 to 150 major and planned gift prospects. The director will play a leadership role in the multi-year comprehensive fundraising campaign of the WMU Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine that is anticipated to run from 2021 to 2031.
